ABOUT ME

On December 1, 2004, I accepted my attorney oath in front of a California Superior Court Judge at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles. This event was an honor and a huge privilege for me as candidates typically accept their oaths at a local convention center with hundreds of other candidates. This special event was possible because I was an associate to a lawyer who was engaged in trial with this particular Judge. After a day of trial proceedings, the presiding Judge was gracious in agreeing to swear me into the California Bar. It reminded me of Matt Damon’s character in the movie The Rainmaker (1997), where he was sworn-in by the judge on the first day of his case. I considered this to be a fantastic start in my law career.

On the very next day, I was given an assignment to represent a client in court. From that point on, I represented many clients with many matters including personal injury, business disputes, DUI and criminal defense, and other various legal issues. Throughout my career, I’ve always make an effort to improve my proficiency as an advocate and a counselor. It's been over 13 years now. Time sure flies.

During my practice, I acquired the Top 3 most important attributes in being an effective advocate for my clients.  One: “Be creative in solving legal problems to suit a client’s specific needs.” This is important, because in my humble opinion lawyers should consider their client's position within the bigger picture of any legal issue at hand. What is the client's end goal here? What is the client’s financial state? Why did the client hire a lawyer in the first place? What can I do to ultimately help my client? These are questions any lawyer should ask him/herself in understanding what results best suit the client. Two: “Know when to be reasonable.” I find that more often than not, many lawyers have difficulty knowing when to be reasonable. What is being reasonable?  Of course, its definition varies depending on the case.  However, as a general rule a lawyer should be able to distinguish at what point he or she should be reasonable. Three: “Help clients reach realistic goals based on their circumstances.” Harder than it sounds, but doable nonetheless. How? Listen to them. Listen to what they are saying. Listen to what they need. That said, I continue to apply my Top 3 in my practice because I want my own attorney to have those attributes when representing me or my family. As cliché as it may sound, I still believe in The Golden Rule, "Treat others the way you want to be treated."

And, for whatever it's worth I was lucky enough to earn various awards and distinctions from the legal community. In 2014 and 2013, I was honored as a Super Lawyer Rising Star. It is my understanding that only 2.5% of California lawyers receive this distinction annually. Since 2013, I have maintained a Superb Rating (10.0 out of 10.0) by AVVO. In 2015, I was inducted into the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers.  In 2016, I was honored as one of the Best DUI Attorneys. In addition, I have been nominated for numerous memberships in various organizations in the legal community that recognize distinction. But, the most important distinctions I’ve received come from my clients. Because, in the end it's really about helping my clients. See Client Testimonials.

On that note, I plan to continue to help people with their legal issues and uphold my reputation as a straight-shooter attorney who will get the job done right.
