ABC Awarded $2.8 Million Grant to Reduce Underage Drinking


The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) received a $2.8 million grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The funding aims to decrease underage drinking and prevent alcohol-related harm across the state through September 2027. Up to 22 local law enforcement agencies will receive up to $30,000 each for local education and enforcement programs.
Funded Programs & Initiatives
The grant supports several ongoing public safety operations and training programs, including:
Minor Decoy and Shoulder Tap operations
The Know Your Limit program
Fake identification enforcement
Alcohol delivery service compliance checks
High school, college, and designated community special events
Maximum holiday enforcement
IMPACT (Informed Merchants Preventing Alcohol-Related Crime Tendency) inspections
LEAD (Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drug) trainings
TRACE (Target Responsibility for Alcohol-Connected Emergencies) investigations
